Title:

the pool

Year: 2019
Materials: wood, water, duckweed
Place: Royal Academy of Arts, the Hague

For a short period of time I lived in the boat house by the bank of one of Hague’s canals. The house offered a perfect panorama on the life of that canal and all of the flora and fauna that is part of it.

One morning I was very suprised to discover that  the water had remarkably changed. It was completely covered with this plant that made it look more like a strange land. Sudden transfromation and absurdity of this new material immediately inspired me to make a work concerning the situation.
